FY 2008 NIMS Compliance Objectives States and Territories: Correction On February 25, 2008, FEMA’s Incident Management Systems Integration (IMSI) Division released the FY 2008 NIMS Compliance Objectives and Metrics for States and Territories, Tribal Nations, and local governments. It has come to the attention of IMSI that there was an error published in the NIMS Compliance Objective #4 on Page 4: Ensure that Federal Preparedness Awards [to include, but not limited to, DHS Homeland Security Grant Program and Urban Area Security Initiative Funds] to State/Territorial Departments/Agencies, as well as local governments, support all required NIMS compliance Objectives. The intent of this NIMS Alert is to correct this misunderstanding and to make clear that IMSI did not intend any shift in NIMS compliance policy for States and Territories. To maintain the viability of that Federal Preparedness Award program, all jurisdictions and all levels of governments, including Tribal Nations, which receive Federal Preparedness funding through the State or Territory should use that funding to support all required NIMS Compliance Objectives. IMSI has revised the Compliance Objectives for States/Territories, Tribal Nations, and local governments and the correct NIMS Compliance Objective #4 reads as follows: Ensure that Federal Preparedness Awards [to include, but not limited to, DHS Homeland Security Grant Program and Urban Area Security Initiative Funds] to State/Territorial/Tribal/local Departments/Agencies, support all required NIMS compliance Objectives. All correct documents are now available on the IMSI Website: www.fema.gov/emergency/nims/compliance/2008. ###
