Dededo, Guam -- The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have scheduled two Applicant Briefings for local officials and private non-profit agencies in Saipan and Tinian to provide information about the Public Assistance Program. Officials will explain the application procedures for federal aid.

The briefings will be conducted at the following locations:

Thursday, February 27, 2003
9 a.m.
Mayor's Conference Room
Tinian

Friday, February 28, 2003
9 a.m.
Governor's Conference Room
Saipan

Saipan and Tinian are eligible to apply for federal assistance to fund 75 percent of the approved costs for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and repairing, restoring or replacing damaged public facilities. Disaster assistance may also be provided for damage to facilities owned by certain private non-profit organizations that operate and maintain educational, utility, emergency, medical custodial care and other essential governmental service facilities.
