Langley, KY -- Eastern Kentucky residents who have suffered from last month's flood-related damages will have an additional resource available to them beginning on Wednesday, September 5.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), along with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, will be staffing a 45-foot long Mobile Disaster Recovery Center this week on Wednesday to Saturday, September 5-8. Operating hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Disaster Recovery Center will be located at the Mud Creek Clinic on Highway 979 in Floyd County (on the outskirts of Grethel).

Representatives from FEMA and the Commonwealth will be available to answer a variety of applicant questions. "This will be one-stop shopping for the individuals in the five counties affected by this flash flood disaster," said Michael Bolch, federal coordinating officer for FEMA. "Folks can obtain information such as housing assistance, available rental resources, and disaster loan applications for individuals and businesses. Staff from the U.S. Small Business Administration will also be on hand to guide applicants through the loan process."

Residents of Floyd, Knott, Letcher, Perry and Pike Counties who sustained damages from last month's floods who may be eligible for individual assistance are encouraged to apply for federal support. By contacting the 1-800-462-9029 teleregistration number prior to entering the Mobile Disaster Recovery Center, individuals will be able to more rapidly expedite and check on the status of their claims. Additional visits to other communities by the Mobile Disaster Recovery Center will be announced in the near future.

Application deadline for Eastern Kentucky residents affected by these floods is October 15.
