Washington, DC -- Susana Duarte, a corporate relations manager with extensive private sector experience in managing regional offices and executing strategic outreach programs, has been appointed as the new director of the Regional Operations Directorate at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Duarte will report to FEMA Director Joe M. Allbaugh, and serve as the focal point for coordinating policy and programs affecting the agency's 10 regional offices.

"Regional directors are my personal representatives in the states, and Susana will be their liaison to me and to FEMA headquarters," Allbaugh said. "With her experience in the private sector, especially in building partnerships among diverse groups and communities, Susana is perfectly suited to bring regional operations to the position of prominence it deserves at FEMA."

Prior to her FEMA appointment, Duarte, 33, was the senior group director for corporate relations for Anheuser-Busch Co. in St. Louis, Mo. In that capacity, she oversaw the relationships among Hispanic, Asian-Pacific American and Native American communities, coordinated brand marketing and sales and managed national community relations. She also served as director of national and regional Northeast markets and manager of corporate relations in Anheuser-Busch.

A native of Mexico City, Duarte holds a Bachelor's degree from Ohio State University.
