MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The state/federal mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located in Tuscaloosa at the Northport Civic Center will close on Friday, October 28. The DRC’s address is 3500 McFarland Blvd. in Tuscaloosa.

The DRC is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. If anyone has questions or would like to check on the status of his or her application in person, this should be done before 6 p.m. on Friday, the closing date.

Residents and evacuees who have questions after the DRC closes may call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The FEMA Helpline number is 800-621-3362 or, TTY 800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing-impaired. Helpline representatives will be able to give the same information provided by officials at the recovery center. Multilingual operators are also available.

Registrants are reminded to have their FEMA registration number and social security number when visiting or calling for information.

FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
