FEMA Reimburses Fort Worth, Plano, San Antonio And Bell County $14.4 Million For Housing Katrina Evacuees

AUSTIN, Texas -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded $14.4 million in public assistance grants to the State of Texas to reimburse the cities of Fort Worth, Plano and San Antonio, and Bell County for interim housing and temporary sheltering of Hurricane Katrina evacuees from the Gulf Coast.

These recent grants cover the costs for transportation, unit rental and furnishings projected for a three-month period.

The federal funds are made available under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program. State and local governments are designated agencies that provide services to evacuees from Hurricane Katrina and are eligible for 100 percent reimbursement for costs associated with:
