Montgomery, AL - An open invitation session for Alabama contractors, hosted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to explain the availability and types of disaster work opportunities, has changed location and time.

The meeting will be held at the Downtown Embassy Suites Hotel Conference Center, 300 Tallapoosa Street, Montgomery, on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 1:30 P.M. The later start will allow participants to be re-directed from the previous site.

Interested contractors are requested to confirm their attendance by calling 334-244-5917 from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. If a contractor has already notified FEMA of their attendance there is no need to re-confirm for the new meeting site.

At the session, FEMA contract specialists will provide a basic disaster process overview, outline bidding procedures and answer audience questions.

FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
