Four Counties Added To Iowa Disaster Declaration for Individual Assistance

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Four more counties - Howard, Humboldt, Jackson and Poweshiek - are now eligible for federal Individual Assistance to help recover from this summer's disaster damage, according to the Rebuild Iowa Office (RIO) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Affected residents and business owners in the added counties may register immediately by calling the FEMA toll-free Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (CDT) seven days a week. Online registration also is available at www.fema.gov.

The original May 27 federal major disaster declaration for severe storms, tornadoes and flooding has now been amended 19 times as more counties have been added.

The four added counties already were eligible for Public Assistance so there is no change in the total number of counties - 85 of Iowa's 99 counties - designated for federal assistance. There are now 78 counties eligible for Individual Assistance and 84 eligible for Public Assistance.

The 78 counties designated for Individual Assistance are now: Adair, Adams, Allamakee, Appanoose, Audubon, Benton, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Cass, Cedar, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Clarke, Clayton, Clinton, Crawford, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Fremont, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Harrison, Henry, Howard, Humboldt, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Kossuth, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Mills, Mitchell, Monona, Monroe, Montgomery, Muscatine, Page, Polk, Pottawattamie, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Scott, Story, Tama, Union, Van Buren, Wapello, Warren, Washington, Webster, Winnebago, Winneshiek, Worth and Wright.
