MADISON, Wis. -- Assistance to public entities, along with grants and low-interest loans to individuals, brings to $81.5 million in state and federal aid to Wisconsin for recent severe storms and flooding.

"We are pleased to see public assistance grants becoming an increasing part of Wisconsin's disaster recovery," said FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer Dolph Diemont. "With 837 Requests for Public Assistance now in the pipeline, we can expect this element of disaster aid to increase rapidly in coming weeks."

Public Assistance grants fund repair and restoration of storm-damaged facilities and services provided by counties, cities, and private non-profit organizations that provide essential public services.
