FEMA Teams Provide Free Advice at State Fair

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Hazard mitigation and community relations teams with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be available at the Iowa State Fair to assist citizens who sustained damage during the recent floods. 

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 7, the teams will be located at the Halls of Law and Flame exhibit near the Grandstand area close to gate 11.

The teams will be available to answer questions citizens may have regarding rebuilding damaged homes and preventive measures to reduce future losses. They will be available daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  

The state fair will continue through Aug. 17

Individuals can still register for FEMA assistance by calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362), or TTY (800) 462-7585. They may also register on-line at www.fema.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
