Kokomo, IN -- Temporary Disaster Recovery Centers will open in Terre Haute on Thursday, July 24, and Decatur on Friday, July 25, to serve victims of the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred July 4 and after, announced officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Indiana State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

After calling the toll-free application number, 1-800-621-FEMA (TTY 1-800-462-7585), disaster victims may visit a Disaster Recovery Center to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists. Representatives of local, state and federal agencies will be on hand to provide information on disaster assistance programs. People can receive help completing U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest loan applications for homeowners, renters and business owners.

Visitors to the centers can check on the status of the applications they have already made by phone, as well as learn cost-effective measures to reduce the impact of future disasters. These are temporary offices, so Hoosiers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to have their questions answered about disaster assistance.
