Recovery Center To Open For McDowell And Wyoming Counties

Charleston, WV -- To further help individuals and businesses affected by the severe storms, flooding and landslides occurring from June 11 until July 15, the West Virginia Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in the town of Iaeger on Wednesday, July 23 as a resource for the residents of both McDowell and Wyoming counties.

The DRC will be located at the Iaeger High School on Water Street in Iaeger with recovery specialists on hand to answer questions about applications and the many programs available following the June 21 presidential disaster declaration.

Center hours:
10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 23 through Friday, July 25
12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 26
Closed on Sunday, July 27
10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, July 28 through Wednesday, July 30

The center will close permanently at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30

Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) also will provide information on low-interest disaster loans. Residents can receive in-person assistance at the DRC in filling out their SBA loan applications for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes.

Anyone living or working in one of the disaster-declared counties is encouraged to apply for assistance before visiting the centers. The registration line is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday, until further notice.
