Sherwood, AR -- Federal Coordinating Officer Sandy Coachman of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and State Coordinating Officer Rich Griffin of the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) remind those who0 have been affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in Arkansas between May 2 and June 10, 2003 to register for assistance as soon as possible. Registrations are accepted by calling toll-free to 800/621-FEMA (3362) or TTY: 800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired. The phone registration lines are open from 8 a.m., to 6 p.m. seven days a week.

"Don't wait. The time to register for federal or state assistance is running out," said Coachman. "Even if you're not sure you qualify for assistance, call the toll-free number and register regardless of the severity of the damage."

To date, $2.8 million in disaster assistance has been approved for nearly 2000 Arkansas individuals and business owners who were affected by the incident.
