Charleston, WV -- State and federal officials from the West Virginia Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have established a Disaster Recovery Center to assist individuals affected by the severe storms, flooding and landslides that began on June 11. The center will open in Wayne County on Monday, July 14 and will be located at:

Location:
Dunlow Elementary School
Route 152
Dunlow, WV

Hours:
Monday, July 14 thru Friday, July 18 - 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 19 - 12:00 pm - 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 20 - Closed
Monday, July 21 - 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Closing: Monday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m.

The center will provide an opportunity to pick up printed material and meet face-to-face with program specialists who can answer questions about the various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners. Some disaster programs include housing assistance, grants for essential needs not covered by insurance for individuals and households, low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and disaster unemployment assistance. Mitigation officers will also be available to offer advice on rebuilding and discuss techniques to make homes more disaster-resistant.

Federal Coordinating Officer Louis Botta joins State Coordinating Officer Stephen S. Kappa in encouraging individuals affected by the disaster to visit the center. "There are many programs available for homeowners, renters, and businesses," said Kappa. "This is a great opportunity for individuals to sit down with different agencies and get all of their questions answered concerning the recovery process."

Those who have been affected by the disaster are encouraged to start the application process before visiting the center by calling FEMA's toll-free teleregistration number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, until further notice. Hearing and speech-impaired individuals may call TTY at 1-800-462-7585.
