More Than 100 Calls Received On Final Day; Nearly $32 Million Approved In Disaster Assistance For Missourians

Springfield, MO -- More than 100 Missourians called to apply for disaster assistance yesterday - the final day that the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) toll-free number was available to accept applications. Nearly $32 million in state and federal assistance has already been approved for more than 2,300 claims from Missourians who were affected by the devastating tornadoes, severe storms and flooding which began on May 4.

Federal and state disaster officials offer the following 60-day summary of assistance efforts to date:

Individuals or business owners who need to provide additional information concerning their application can call FEMA's Helpline at 800-621-FEMA (3362) and select "Option 3." For the hearing or speech impaired, the TTY number is 800-462-7585. The Helpline is available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Multi-lingual operators are available.

Following is a list of the 74 Missouri counties where residents applied to FEMA for Individual Assistance, followed by the number of applications received to date per county:
