Charleston, WV -- West Virginians in Berkeley County recovering from recent severe storms, flooding and landslides that began on June 11 soon will have a resource center they can visit to get help with a variety of post-storm issues, according to state and federal disaster recovery officials.

The center, known as a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), opens Wednesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. in Inwood at the following location:

Musselman High School
126 Excellence Way

Inwood, West Virginia

It will be staffed:
Wednesday, July 9 to Saturday, July 12: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday, July 13: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 15: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The center will close permanently at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15.

West Virginians in any disaster-designated county can use this free service to talk face-to-face with recovery specialists. The West Virginia Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are coordinating the recovery centers.

Disaster recovery officials encourage citizens to first apply for disaster assistance by calling the toll-free application number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Persons who are hearing or speech impaired can apply by calling a special TTY number: 1-800-462-7585. Multilingual operators also are available when needed.

DRCs use a "one-stop" concept that enables persons affected by storms to get individual assistance from any number of state and federal disaster recovery program specialists in one location.

The following information will be available at the DRC:
