San Antonio, TX -- DeWitt and Victoria counties have been added to the list of Texas counties eligible for federal disaster assistance as a result of the Texas Floods of 2002. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) made the designation following a review of additional information regarding damages to these two counties.

The designation means that residents of these counties are eligible to apply for disaster assistance, which could include disaster housing assistance, low-interest loans to repair or replace storm-damaged property or money for serious needs and necessary expenses not met by other programs.

The addition of these counties brings to 36 the number of Texas counties eligible for federal disaster assistance.

Individuals and business owners are urged to call the toll-free registration line at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or 800-462-7585 for hearing or speech impaired to apply for disaster assistance.
