San Antonio, TX -- "The Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are staffed with experts to answer questions and give applicants help in completing Small Business Administration (SBA) applications," said Federal Coordinating Officer Scott Wells. "This is a great opportunity for people to sit down with different agencies and get their recovery process questions answered."

The opening today of the Disaster Recovery Center at 651 Business Loop I-35 Ste. 1030, The New Braunfels Market Place, brings the total to nine centers now open or that will open soon.

FEMA, Texas Division of Emergency Management, Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, SBA, voluntary agencies and other personnel answer questions and provide recovery information about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners. Disaster programs include temporary housing assistance, individual and family grants, low interest SBA disaster loans, disaster unemployment assistance and crisis counseling.

State Coordinating Officer Duke Mazurek and Wells urge those who have suffered loss to register by calling 800-621- FEMA (3362) or 800-462-7585 TTY and to visit one of the centers.

"There are many programs available for homeowners, renters and businesses," said Mazurek. "If you have not registered with FEMA for federal and state assistance, do so now. The process starts with that first call."
