San Antonio, TX -- State and federal officials announce the addition of one Disaster Recovery Center to assist those affected by the Texas flood of 2002. The additional brings the total to five centers that are either currently open or will open in the near future.

On Saturday, July 13, the Bandera (Bandera County) Center will open at 1203 Pecan (Old Post Office Building)

The centers are staffed by personnel who can answer questions and provide recovery information and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners. Some disaster programs include temporary housing assistance, individual and family grants, low interest SBA disaster loans, disaster unemployment assistance and crisis counseling.

State Coordinating Officer Duke Mazurek and Federal Coordinating Officer Scott Wells urge those with questions to visit one of the centers.

"There are many programs available for homeowners, renters and businesses," said Mazurek. "This is a great opportunity for people to sit down with different agencies and get their recovery process questions answered."

If you have not registered with FEMA, it's not too late. To start the application process, call 1-800-621 FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing or speech impaired.

There are currently two centers open with an additional center set to open on July 11 and July 12.
