FEMA/Alaska/SBA Disaster Recovery Center In Salcha To Close July 25

Anchorage, AK -- Residents who sustained losses or damage as a result of the recent Spring break up flooding have until July 25 to visit the FEMA/Alaska/U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Recovery Center in Salcha, federal and state disaster recovery officials announced today. The center is located at 6062 Johnson Rd., Salcha.

"The Disaster Recovery Center will be operating through July 25 at 7:30 p.m.," said Jim Butchart, Alaska state coordinating officer.

"But even after the center closes FEMA will be as close as a telephone call away," said Bill Lokey, federal coordinating officer.

Disaster victims may still register for assistance until August 25 by calling toll-free at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The toll-free number is available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Alaska time seven days a week. Hearing or speech impaired individuals can call TTY 1-800-462-7585.

Disaster assistance programs include funding for temporary housing, low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes for property damages not fully covered by insurance, working capital loans for small businesses and grants for serious needs and necessary expenses not met by other programs. Disaster unemployment assistance, tax assistance and other special services are also available to eligible persons affected by the disaster.
