Columbia, MO -- Missouri disaster victims who have not yet applied for federal disaster assistance have only one more week to apply. Monday, July 8, is the last day for those who experienced losses in 48 Missouri counties to file applications for most disaster assistance programs, according to federal and state disaster recovery officials.
Homeowners, renters, and businesses owners who sustained damage from severe storms, tornadoes and flooding between April 24 and June 10 are encouraged to apply by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agencys (FEMA) toll-free number: 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Those with hearing or speech impairments can register by calling 1-800-462-7585. The telephone numbers are operational from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., CDT, Monday through Friday.
Applicants may qualify for assistance under several federal and state programs such as disaster housing assistance, grants to meet disaster-related needs, and U. S. Small Business Administration disaster loans to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.
Counties where aid is available through FEMAs Individual Assistance program are: Barry, Barton, Bollinger, Butler, Camden, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Cedar, Christian, Crawford, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Dunklin, Greene, Hickory, Howell, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Laclede, Lawrence, Madison, McDonald, Mississippi, New Madrid, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Pemiscot, Perry, Polk, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Stoddard, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Washington, Wayne, Webster and Wright.
