Disaster Assistance Registration Hours Change

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The hours when Clark County flood victims can register for federal and state disaster assistance have changed, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Starting Monday, Aug. 9, FEMA's toll-free registration number, 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-462-7585), operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Those who have already registered can get additional information on the programs by calling the FEMA toll-free helpline at 1-800-525-0321 (1-800-462-7585 TTY) during the same new hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
To date, 901 people have registered for individual flood assistance under the presidential declaration for Clark County following the early July floods.
"So far, disaster temporary housing assistance checks totaling $372,175 have been mailed to 297 Clark County flood victims who recently applied for disaster aid," said Frank Siracusa, Governor's Authorized Representative.
Disaster assistance programs include temporary housing, additional grants for unmet needs (Individual and Family Grant Program), and low-interest loans for flood-damaged residences and businesses from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). For those who want to inquire about the status of their Individual and Family Grant (IFG), or need more information on the IFG program, the IFG Helpline at 702-678-5592, will be available during the new hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
"We are changing the hours for registration because of reduced calls by disaster victims," said Michael Lowder, federal coordinating officer. "However, we still encourage those who have not yet registered to go ahead and make that call to get the assistance process going."
