Disaster Field Operations Begin in Louisiana

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- FEMA and Louisiana state officials have established a field office in Bossier City, La. to begin disaster recovery operations. FEMA's regional office in Denton, Texas (Region IV) has sent an Emergency Response Team to work with state officials in Bossier City. The rest of the operation will be coordinated from the Region VI Regional Operations Center in Denton.

A Public Disaster Assistance (PA) Applicant's Briefing is scheduled for tomorrow in Bossier City.

The American Red Cross (ARC) opened two shelters over the course of the incident. All shelters are now closed, but ARC is operating two service centers and eight mobile feeding units over the affected area. ARC's 306 on-site volunteers have served 28,353 meals.
