WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Joint Federal/State Preliminary Damage Assessments started yesterday in Clinton, Hamilton and Warren counties. The teams will look at damage from the severe weather system that moved through the area on April 8 and 9.

Local officials report all telephone and electrical service has been restored, except for areas where power and telephone poles were severely damaged or destroyed. Gas service is being restored as safety inspections are completed.

All shelters have closed, but the American Red Cross has six mobile feeding stations working in the affected counties.
