Severe Weather Possible in Midwest Today

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Weather Service (NWS) reports severe weather and the likelihood of tornadoes are possible today in the Midwest and parts of Texas. NWS forecasters anticipate the highest potential for strong storms and possible tornadoes exists in eastern Kansas and western Missouri.

The area of major concern includes east and central Texas, most of Oklahoma and Arkansas, the eastern half of Kansas, all of Missouri, southern Iowa, southeastern Nebraska and the western half of Illinois.

NWS expects the weather system to move to the northeast tomorrow, bringing the threat of severe weather to Illinois and Indiana and possibly as far east as the Ohio Valley.
