Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers to Be in Four Communities

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Mobile disaster recovery centers are visiting four North Carolina communities to assist people and businesses that incurred losses in hurricanes Floyd and Irene.
The center's schedules:
Bladen County. Blandenboro Historical Building, Highway 410, Blandenboro, Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20.
Lenoir County. Contentnea Ruritan Club, 5678 Highway 11 North, Kinston, Monday, Nov. 1 through Friday, Nov. 19.
Carteret County. County courthouse, 402 Cedar St., Beaufort, Monday, Nov. 22, through Wednesday, Nov. 24.
Edgecombe County. Fountain Industrial Park, Fountain School Rd., Rocky Mount, Monday, Nov. 22, through Friday, Dec. 3.
Hours of the centers will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are staffed by state and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) specialists to assist those who have applied for assistance by calling the FEMA/state application line, 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-462-7585). The deadline for applying for federal and state assistance is Dec. 14.
At the centers, people can check the status of their applications and get detailed information on disaster housing aid, Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest loans, rebuilding to reduce losses in the future, and other recovery programs. Stress counseling also is available.
Those with hearing or speech impairments who use special keyboard equipment (TTY) should call 1-800-462-7585.
