SBA Loans for Businesses and Residents impacted by Gustav and Ike

Louisiana homeowners, renters and businesses impacted by hurricanes Gustav and Ike have access to more than $100 million in federal low-interest disaster loans from the U.
S. Small Business Administration. Disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace their damaged or destroyed primary residence. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property. Businesses of any size and private, non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets. Individuals and business owners who sustained damages from the hurricanes are encouraged to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency by calling (800) 621-3362 or by registering online.

211 Information and Referral provides a 24 hour, comprehensive community resource information and referral service.
Callers can request assistance with basic needs such as food, shelter, food stamps, medical service assistance and temporary financial assistance. Dial 2-1-1 from any phone or the 800 numbers listed below for the respective cities.

St. Paul's Homecoming Center Beacon of Hope was originally established in Lakeview as a Katrina Disaster Response Center and is now re-locating to Gentilly.
The Center will serve as a hub for the residents of Gentilly providing numerous services such as computers with internet access, fax, free notary public, volunteer services (for non-skilled home tasks on a case-by-case basis), case management (helping residents find needed items or resources), and assistance finding contractors and other rebuilding needs.

Louisiana Food Banks and Food Bank Distribution

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans sponsors a food banks in New Orleans three times a week in the Upper Ninth Ward.
The program is available to low income residents that have a valid Louisiana state I.D. The distribution center gives boxes of food once a month to eligible residents according to size of the family. The free food packages include produce, dried foods, and meats.

BlueStone Ministries offers case management services and counseling to St. Bernard residents.
BlueStone Ministries points individuals and families to specific resources available for recovery, and helps answer questions regarding options and services that meet individuals' needs. BlueStone Ministries also offers pastoral and crisis counseling to evaluate emotional and spiritual well-being. Services provided by BlueStone Ministries are available at the Community Center of St Bernard, 1107 LeBeau St. in Arabi, on Thursdays from 10AM – 2 PM.
