MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- By year-end 2005, the cost of providing assistance to Hurricane Katrina victims in Alabama had reached more than $519 million. The following pages give a detailed view of the magnitude of the dollar allocations to date. Also see the attached, “Alabama by the Numbers: Year-end Update.”

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) said help was provided to eleven affected counties in the state. They give the break down of disaster assistance as follows:

$57 million in Small Business Administration loans
