FEMA Hosts Opportunity Session for Disaster Contractors in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Al. -– Alabama contractors are invited to attend a meeting hosted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that will explain the types of disaster work opportunities that may be available in various parts of the state following Hurricane Katrina.

The meeting will be held at the Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 1 P.M.

Due to limited seating, interested contractors are requested to confirm their attendance by calling 332-244-5917, Monday-Friday from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.

At the session, FEMA contract specialists will provide a basic disaster process overview, outline bidding procedures and answer audience questions.

FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
