USDA REQUESTS COMMENTS ON THE REMOVAL OF DELAY OF APPLICABILITY OF CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE BOVINE SPONGIFORM ENCEPHALOPATHY MINIMAL-RISK REGIONS AND IMPORTATION COMMODITIES RULE

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is requesting comments on the removal of the delay of applicability of certain provisions of the rule entitled, “Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy; Minimal-Risk Regions and Importation of Commodities,” published in the Federal Register on Jan. 4, 2005, 70FR 460-553.  The delay of applicability was removed in the final rule entitled, “Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy; Minimal-Risk Regions; Importation of Live Bovines and Products Derived from Bovines,” published in the Federal Register on Sept. 18, 2007, 72 FR 53314-53379.

Notice of this proposal is scheduled for publication in the Sept. 18, 2008, Federal Register.

Consideration will be given to comments received on or before Nov. 17, 2008.  You may submit comments by either of the following methods:
