  • More efficient conversion of feed to meat and milk products will reduce the amount of manure produced and lower nutrient levels in the manure.
  • Development of management practices, treatment technologies and decision tools will allow Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans to be developed and Total Maximum Daily Load requirements to be met.
  • New management practices and treatment technologies will be developed to reduce emissions and control pathogens at production facilities, storage areas and field application sites.
  • Alternative uses of manure and other byproducts will be identified, developed and optimized.
