Where can my.NRCS take you?  Around the world and back, according to Drew Adam, district conservationist in Brattleboro, Vermont.  Nine months after applying for a position in Afghanistan from a vacancy announcement on my.NRCS, Drew arrived for a six month assignment as a member of a Provincial Reconstruction Team.

USDA Partners with Bureau of Indian Affairs for Conservation Programs on Indian Lands
The MOU, signed by NRCS Chief Arlen Lancaster, FSA Associate Administrator Thomas B. Hofeller, and BIA Director of Trust Services Arch Wells, identifies the respective Federal responsibilities that must be coordinated by the three agencies. It also recognizes the role of American Indians and Indian tribes as landowners, land users, and as sovereign governmental entities with authority and responsibility for the development and administration of natural resource programs on Indian lands.

First Volunteers
In May 1981, Richard Casale, NRCS district conservationist in Santa Cruz County, California, signed up the first three NRCS volunteers — education coordinator Christine Hirsch, public affairs specialist and soil conservationist Kathryn Lyster, and Eileen Hastings.
