The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Region 1 Office has announced the assignment of a new senior resident inspector for the Seabrook nuclear power plant, in Seabrook, N.H. Raymond K. Lorson was a resident inspector at the Salem nuclear power plant in New Jersey before coming to Seabrook.
Mr. Lorson also has experience as a resident inspector at the Peach Bottom nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania, and prior to that worked as a reactor engineer for the Division of Reactor Projects at the Region 1 Office in King of Prussia, Pa.
From 1984 to 1991, Mr. Lorson served as a nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interfacing with plant workers and the public.
