Disaster Recovery Centers Change Hours

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Disaster Recovery Centers in seven counties in Tennessee are changing the days and hours they are open. 

Beginning Sunday, Feb. 24, the centers in Benton, Hardin, Hickman, Macon, Madison, Sumner and Williamson counties will be closed on Sundays.  They will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday until further notice. 

The centers, which provide assistance to residents recovering from the Feb. 5-6 tornadoes and severe storms, are joint operations of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State of Tennessee.

Macon County

All the centers provide a range of services:

Before visiting a Disaster Recovery Center, residents should apply to FEMA by calling
(800) 621-FEMA (3362) or TTY (800) 462-7585, or by going online at www.fema.gov.

When disaster-affected residents visit a center, they should have identification, Social Security numbers, insurance information, proof of address and contact numbers to expedite the application process.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
