Three New Disaster Recovery Centers Open in Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The state of Tennessee and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have opened Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) to serve Williamson, Benton and Hickman County residents who sustained losses in the tornadoes and severe storms of February 5-6.

Before visiting a DRC, disaster survivors should apply for assistance at (800) 621-FEMA (3362),  TTY (800) 462-7585 or go online at www.fema.gov.

Services people can expect to receive at a DRC are:

When disaster-affected residents visit a DRC they should bring identification, social security numbers, insurance information, proof of address and contact phone numbers in order to help speed up the application process.

The centers will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., until further notice:

The newest centers bring the number of DRCs that are open in Tennessee’s disaster-stricken areas to eight. The others are in Macon, Sumner, Madison, Hardin and Shelby counties.

All eight DRCs will be open on President's Day, Monday, Feb. 18.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
