FEMA Region III Releases FY 2007 Annual Report

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Highlighting a number of successes and progress on several initiatives, the Region III office of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released its annual report today. The report - available online at www.fema.gov/about/regions/regioniii/annual_reports.shtm - describes Region III's efforts to assist communities throughout the mid-Atlantic region in disaster preparedness, response and recovery.

"The 2007 annual report shows that we have made significant strides in improving our readiness capabilities," said Regional Administrator Jonathan Sarubbi. "By strengthening our partnerships, operational planning and disaster response, FEMA stands ready to assist communities throughout the mid-Atlantic in the event of a disaster."

The report highlights FEMA's work throughout its jurisdiction - Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, including:

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
