Expand/Collapse Overview

HAZUS-MH (Multi-Hazards) is a powerful, free ArcGIS extension developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency under contract with the National Institute of Building Sciences. HAZUS-MH works with ArcGIS Desktop to display hazard data and estimate the impacts of hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes on communities (e.g., damage to buildings and lifelines, estimates of displaced populations and shelter needs, and short- and long-term economic impacts).

HAZUS-MH can be used by individuals and organizations with limited knowledge of hazard analysis, as well as by those with extensive expertise in the earth, building, and GIS sciences due to its diverse range of options. This seminar provides an overview of the capabilities of HAZUS-MH and how it can support mitigation, response, and recovery efforts.

The presenter will discuss:

  • Capabilities of HAZUS-MH
  • Benefits of using HAZUS-MH
  • The Flood, Earthquake, and Hurricane Models and their corresponding outputs
  • Additional resources and training opportunities
