During FY 2003, the number decreased to slightly below 140, increased to a five-year high of slightly more than 180 in FY 2004 and then fell to a five-year low of just above 120 in FY 2005. The number of BLA efficacy supplements initially dropped from a FY 2001 level of 16 to 11 in FY 2002. Then, the number of BLA efficacy supplements steadily increased each year from FY 2003 to FY 2005, reaching almost double the amount of FY 2001.
