PARTS OF LOCAL PUBLIC DOCUMENT ROOM FOR THREE MILE ISLAND
AND PEACH BOTTOM NUCLEAR PLANTS ARE REOPENED

Some portions of the Harrisburg branch of the Pennsylvania State library housing the
Nuclear Regulatory Commission's local public document room for the Three Mile Island
and Peach Bottom nuclear power plants have been reopened to the public. A project to
remove lead from the building led to the temporary closure. The work began last fall.

The opened areas include the basement level section where NRC microfiche of most of
the plant records issued since January 1981 can be found. The stack area containing hard
copy NRC records will remain closed for about six more months.

During the remainder of the lead removal project, every effort will be made to meet the
informational needs of document room patrons. For example, library staff will continue to
perform on-line searches of the agency's NUDOCS database.

The locations of other NRC document rooms that maintain records on Three Mile Island
and Peach Bottom, which are operated by GPU Energy Corporation and Philadelphia
Electric Company, respectively, can be obtained by contacting the agency's LPDR staff, at
(800) 638-8081. Requests for records also may be addressed to the NRC's Public
Document Room, 2120 L Street NW, Lower Level, Washington, D.C., 20555-0001, or by
calling the room at (800) 397-4209.

Individuals interested in using the Harrisburg NRC document room collection while the
stack areas are closed are asked to contact the State Library of Pennsylvania at (717) 787-2327 or NRC LPDR staff members at their toll-free number listed above.
