The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has assigned Tim Hoeg as the new resident inspector at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant in Lusby, Md. He joins resident inspectors Scott Stewart and Fred Bower at the site.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interfacing with plant workers and the public.
Mr. Hoeg joined the NRC in 1997 as a reactor engineer in the Systems Engineering Branch of the Region I Division of Reactor Safety.
Prior to joining the agency, Mr. Hoeg was a nuclear steam supply systems manager at Public Service Electric & Gas Company's Salem nuclear power plant in Lower Alloways Creek Township, N.J., and a shift test engineer supervisor at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, Conn.
Mr. Hoeg served in the United States Navy, where he was a mechanic on the USS Sam Houston (SSBN 609). He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.
Mr. Hoeg, his wife and daughter live in St. Leonard, Md.
