NRC ASSIGNS NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR TO LIMERICK GENERATING STATION Samuel L. Hansell, Jr., has been selected as the new Nuclear Regulatory Commission resident inspector for the Limerick Generating Station in Limerick, Pa. He joins Senior Resident Arthur Burritt and Resident Inspector Paul Bonnett at the two-unit site, which is operated by PECO-Energy Company.
Mr. Hansell joined the NRC in 1990 as an operations examiner/inspector in the Region I office in King of Prussia. He served as the NRC's resident inspector at Three Mile Island from 1994 through this year.
Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Hansell was a licensed senior reactor operator and reactor operator at Public Service Electric and Gas Company's Hope Creek Generating Station in Lower Alloways Creek Township, N.J. He also worked for Bechtel Power Corporation, as a startup engineer at Limerick.
Mr. Hansell served in the United States Navy from 1976 through 1982, working as an electrician on nuclear submarines. In 1982, he was awarded the "Sailor of the Year" award on the USS Memphis.
