PETER ALTER ASSIGNED RESIDENT INSPECTOR
FOR NRC AT GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has assigned Peter J. Alter as resident inspector at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station operated by Entergy Operations, Inc. near Port Gibson, Mississippi. Mr. Alter assumed his post on June 8.

Mr. Alter is a 1969 graduate of Saint Francis College (Maine) with a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics and secondary education. He is an eight year veteran of the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power Program. He has worked for the last 18 years as a Senior Reactor Operator Instructor for General Physics Corporation and nuclear utilities in the New England states.

He joined the NRC in January of this year as a resident inspector in the Division of Reactor Projects at NRC Region IV offices in Arlington, Texas. Mr. Alter joins Jennifer Dixon-Herrity, who is the senior resident inspector, at Grand Gulf.

Mr. Alter will be residing in Vicksburg with his wife, Becky.
