JIM SPETS ASSIGNED RESIDENT INSPECTOR

FOR NRC AT WNP-2

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has assigned Jim Spets as resident inspector at the WNP-2 nuclear power plant operated by the Washington Public Power Supply System near Richland, Washington. Mr. Spets assumed his post on April 6.

Mr. Spets is a 1987 graduate of Arizona State University with a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering. He has worked as a nuclear shift test engineer at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard for six years and as an operational readiness engineer for the Westinghouse Hanford Company for two years.

He joined the NRC as an inspector in the Transportation and Storage Inspection Section at the agency's Maryland headquarters in 1996. Mr. Spets joins Scott Boyton, who is the senior resident inspector, at WNP-2.

Mr. Spets will be residing in Richland with his wife Sue and two children, Trevor (2) and Madeline (4 months).
