Lincoln, Neb. -- The State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center located in Schuyler, in Colfax County is closing permanently. The information about the closing follows:

Closing Date: Thursday, July 24 at 6:00 p.m.

Business Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily; closed Sundays

Schuyler, Colfax County

Anyone who has questions about their application or would like to speak with a recovery specialist should visit the center before 6:00 p.m. on the closing date. People can also call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster Helpline, 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing impaired.

Disaster Recovery Centers remain open at the following four locations:

Saunders County - City Hall Community Center, 217 S. 142nd St., Ceresco, NE
Buffalo County - Mid-Town Business Center, 2022 Ave. A., Kearney, NE
Dawson County - Old Wal-Mart Building, 1501 Plum Creek Parkway, Lexington, NE
Douglas County - Millard Fire Station, 7010 S. 142nd St., Omaha, NE

Those who had disaster losses from the storms, tornadoes and flooding of May 22 - June 24, 2008 should register for assistance if they have not already done so, by calling 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing impaired. Registrations are also taken online at www.fema.gov/assistance.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident, initiates mitigation activities and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA works closely with State and local emergency managers, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, and other first responders.
