LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- After serving Saline County, the Mobile Disaster Recovery Center will end operations at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22. The center, located at Holland Chapel Church, Family Life Center, 15523 Interstate 30, Benton, remains open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

On Friday, May 23, the center will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC), with operating hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Tuesday, May 27. The DLOC will be closed Saturday through Monday (May 24-26) in observance of Memorial Day.

Those who may have disaster assistance questions after the center closes or want to check on the status of their application can call Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA's) Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585. Lines are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. June 27, 2008 is the deadline to apply for disaster assistance for damages from the March and April storms and flooding.

Anyone not able to visit the DLOC, who has SBA questions, should call the SBA at 1-800-659-2955 or visit the SBA Web site at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.

SBA representatives at the DLOC will continue to provide Saline County residents with personal assistance in completing their loan applications as well as answering questions about SBA's loan program and explaining how an SBA disaster loan can help repair or replace their disaster-damaged property.

Low-interest disaster loans from SBA are available to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private, non-profit organizations. Disaster loans from SBA are the primary source of funds for repairing and rebuilding disaster damaged private property. So far, SBA has approved more than $4.7 million in low-interest disaster loans to Arkansas residents and businesses affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred in March and April. Disaster loans cover uncompensated losses and do not duplicate benefits from other agencies or organizations.

FEMA coordinates the Federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terrorism.
