LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Arkansans who suffered damages during the February 5 tornadoes should call and register for disaster assistance as soon as possible. Residents and business owners in Baxter, Pope, Sharp, Stone and Van Buren counties are currently eligible for individual assistance.

Anyone who suffered damages in the February 5 tornado may still be eligible for aid. These individuals are urged to call and register for assistance and also to contact their local emergency manager and inform them of the damage.

The telephone number to register is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or for the speech or hearing impaired, TTY 1-800-462-7585. The toll-free telephone number to register for assistance has operators available from 7 a.m. to midnight CST seven days a week. It is also possible to register online at any time on the FEMA website at www.fema.gov

Individuals and businesses with insurance policies are encouraged to register for assistance. Many types of federal and state disaster assistance are available for homeowners and renters to help compensate losses not fully covered by insurance.

Arkansans who registered only with a volunteer agency, such as the American Red Cross, are not automatically registered for federal or state assistance programs. Residents with damages from the tornadoes are still eligible to apply for assistance and need to call and register immediately.

Call to register at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) from 7 a.m. to midnight CST seven days a week or for the speech or hearing impaired, TTY 1-800-462-7585. It is also possible to register online at any time on the FEMA website at www.fema.gov
