HAZUS-MH MR2 FAQs: Basic HAZUS Usage

Are there any limitations to bringing study regions from HAZUS-MH or HAZUS-MH MR1 to HAZUS-MH MR2?

Flood Model study regions created in HAZUS-MH cannot be imported into HAZUS-MH MR2 because the NED (or other DEM previously used in HAZUS-MH) data is processed differently in each version. ESRI also has modified the projection methodology within ArcGIS 9.1; therefore, the DEM between MR1 and MR2 will be slightly different, resulting in slightly different results. Additionally, to enhance the analysis performance of the flood model a temporary database was added and the older versions of HAZUS-MH do not have the associated database, tables, and stored procedures necessary to perform an analysis. Otherwise, there are no major differences preventing the importation of study regions created in HAZUS-MH or HAZUS-MH MR1 into HAZUS-MH MR2. Users can still import HAZUS-MH flood model study regions to view previously calculated results.

The Hurricane Model is backward compatible one version. Thus, to move a study region from MH to MR2, the user will have to:

  1. Export from MH.
  2. Import to MR1.
  3. Export from MR1
  4. Import to MR2.

There are no limitations to bringing study regions created in HAZUS-MH or HAZUS-MH MR1 into the HAZUS-MH MR2 Earthquake Model.
