1993 (Blue) Guide for Community Officials (FIA-12)
This Guide has been designed to provide community officials, planners, and engineers with basic information about the processes for requesting changes to National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) maps and other flood risk information prepared by FEMA. The goal of this Guide is to provide general information about determining the required type of map change, the various processes for submitting map changes, and the types of supporting data that FEMA will need to review and evaluate requests for map changes. To assist the reader in understanding how the NFIP maps were created, background information about the NFIP, including FEMA’s change request regulations and procedures, is included. This Guide is designed for readers who do not require refined technical explanations, and the information presented is not intended to serve for legal definitions. The contact information on pages 80 and 81 has changed. Current contact information for the FEMA Regions is available at www.fema.gov/plan/prevent/fhm/fp_key.shtm.
