Mobile Disaster Recovery Center Travels To Maple Park And Coal City

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The state of Illinois and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will have a Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) moving from Maple Park in DeKalb County to Coal City in Grundy County to serve residents and businesses affected by the severe storms and flooding from Sept. 13 to Oct. 5.

Before visiting a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), those who sustained losses in the designated counties (Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, LaSalle and Will) should apply for assistance online at www.fema.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 800-462-7585. The toll-free numbers operate 24 hours, seven days a week.

The MDRC that is now located at Ottawa City Hall in LaSalle County will close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.

It will open Monday, Oct. 20 through Saturday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in DeKalb County at the following location:

On Monday, Oct. 27 through Wed. Oct. 29, the MDRC will be in the following location in Grundy County and be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

When disaster-affected residents visit a DRC they should bring identification, social security numbers, insurance information, proof of address and contact phone numbers in order to help speed up the assistance process.
