DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Disaster Recovery Center in Cedar Rapids in Linn County – the final one in Iowa - will close Saturday, Oct. 25, according to officials at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Despite the closure, residents in the disaster-declared counties can receive information by calling FEMA's help line at 1-800-621-FEMA.

The Linn County Disaster Recovery Center is located at Westdale Mall, 2600 Edgewood Road S.W., Cedar Rapids. Over 9,000 Iowans impacted by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding have visited the center since it's opening on June, 24, 2008. There were 72 Iowa Disaster Recovery Centers open during the height of the disaster.

The Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division and FEMA opened the temporary Disaster Recovery Center to provide face-to-face assistance to Iowans in disaster-declared counties.

It is not necessary to visit a Disaster Recovery Center to receive FEMA assistance. Persons who suffered damage should register with FEMA by calling its toll-free telephone line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585, or online anytime at www.fema.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
